Mary has extensive experience of performing in individual recitals and as a soloist with choral groups such as operatic societies and male voice choirs. She has a varied repertoire of classical concert items.
Mary has also performed in a number of themed concerts such as Burns Nights, Great Show Songs, An Evening with Sigmund Romberg, Songs from 20s and 30s musicals, A Tribute to Deanna Durban, and An Evening with Ivor Novello.
Originally trained as an oratorio soloist, Mary has performed with numerous choral societies, chamber choirs and other groups in the Midlands, the North East and Murcia, Spain.
Mozart is a particular favourite for Mary and more recent performances have included ‘Exsultate Jubilate’ with Billingham Oratorio Choir and the ‘Requiem’ and ‘Sicilian Vespers’ with Darlington Choral Society. While Mary never tires of singing the large-scale oratorios such as Handel’s ‘Messiah’, Haydn’s ‘Creation’ and Mendelssohn’s ‘Elijah’ she is also equally at home with smaller-scale works such as Rossini’s ‘Stabat Mater’, Faure’s Requiem and with more modern works such as Karl Jenkins’ ‘Requiem for the Armed Man’.
Further examples of Mary’s extensive oratorio repertoire are listed below. She is always happy to learn new works and to sing with smaller groups and societies.
